FlySafair Boarding Pass
Flying in the age of Covid19 has changed the way we fly. FlySafair has introduced a “no touch” policy to try and keep passengers as safe as possible. Check in can be done online 24 hours before departure for your flight. FlySafair has launched its own app that you can download here that will allow you to check in online and keep your boarding pass on your phone. Flight bookings can also be made via the app. If you don’t have a mobile phone you can still get your boarding pass at the check in counter.
FlySafair Economy Class
The flight was called and it was time to join the priority line to board the plane. The staff at check in were checking boarding passes in the priority line and removing passengers that were not meant to be in the priority line. When you present your boarding pass you scan it yourself and do not hand it to the person doing check in. The same applies to your valid ID document that you must show at boarding. Do not hand it to anyone. This is part of FlySafair’s “no touch” policy to keep you safe. Boarding the plane is via the front and rear to speed up the boarding process and ensure on time departure. The airline has a over 98% on time departure rating.
This 737-800 plane had a seat configuration for 189 passengers.Boarding the plane was super fast and I had chosen seat 1C. When booking your seat online you have the choice of choosing your seat. The seats in the first row have more leg room and you are first off the plane. This seat cost an extra R75.00. There are other options that cost R50.00. If you really are looking for space you can block the seat next to you at a cost of R750.00. As you board the plane you are required to use the hand sanitiser provided by the crew. Face masks are required to be worn for the duration of the flight.
The only part of the plane that will require your touch is to store your luggage in the over head bins and to fasten your seat belt. The seats do not recline at all in any part of the plane. No inconsiderate moron is going to recline into your lap no matter where you are seated on the plane. The in flight magazine can be downloaded prior to departure and are no longer in the seat backs. Flight time to Johannesburg is around 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Service on board does not include food or drinks due to COVID 19 restrictions. You may consume your own snacks that you have brought on board during the flight. There is no WiFi on board and no charging ports for devices in the seat area. Make sure your devices are charged before departure if you are planning to work during the flight. Toilets are available during the flight and are stocked with hand sanitiser and are cleaned on a regular basis.
Getting off the plane has also changed. No longer is there a rugby scrum as people fight to get off as quickly as possible. Disembarkation is done two rows at a time in an orderly and civilised manner. Something to remember if you have tight flight connections.
