The Kruger Gate Hotel is located along the Sabi River at the Paul Kruger Gate on the R536 leading to Kruger National Park, most visitors typically approach the hotel through the town of Hazyview, following the R536 route. It’s worth noting that the R536 is not in optimal condition, and I strongly advise against driving on this road at night. The journey demands caution due to potential encounters with wildlife, pedestrians, taxis, and traffic police. During our trip, we observed more than six traffic police stops on this route, underscoring the need to adhere to the speed limit at all times. Thankfully, the entrance to the hotel is signposted, providing a guidepost amidst the challenges of the journey

While the staff handled the situation promptly, it did introduce a minor disruption to an otherwise smooth morning routine.

If breakfast is not included in your package I would suggest breakfast at the Cattle Barron at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park over breakfast at the Protea Hotel by Marriot Kruger Gate.
